As of Monday 12 December all GP “on the day” urgent appointments will now be released at 8am. There will no longer be a second release of afternoon appointments at 1pm.
The reason for this that more and more patients are waiting on the phone lines in the morning to book an appointment only to be told that all the morning appointments have gone and that they should ring back at 1pm. Often patients ringing back in the afternoon are waiting again, only to be told that the afternoon appointments have all gone. One release time will mean that patients will only have to ring once.
The demand for appointments is very high and our reception team do their best to get through the calls as quickly has they can. We are however looking at other way is in which appointments can be booked and we hope to provide further information on this very soon.
