Dear Patients 25/2/25
As our community continues to grow, so does the need for a new surgery to better serve our population. We would like to update you on the progress made so far and our plans for the future.
As you will know a site has been identified on East Street for a new surgery and we have recently received approval to undertake an assessment of this location. Whilst this does not guarantee full approval it is an important step forward.
Alongside this, we have submitted a detailed proposal to the government requesting approval and funding for an expanded healthcare facility. This would increase local services and help relieve pressure on hospitals by offering more care in the community.
We want to build a health care hub in which a much wider range of services could be provided. This could include various outpatient appointments, women’s health (maternity), mental health and older people’s services. Space would also be provided for district nurses and health visitors to work from. This will result in much better communication between all the professionals.
Additionally, we want to work more closely with local and national charities to broaden the support we can provide.
We will keep you informed if funding is granted and we will seek your views on additional services that could be provided.
We remain optimistic about the outcome and appreciate your continued patience and support as we work towards improving healthcare provision in our community.
Best wishes
Dr Katie Herman, Dr Chris Herman and Dr Niall Bacon
