Patient Update

Dear Patients

Last Friday, we met with a senior official from the NHS to discuss our proposed new health centre development. They were very interested in our plans to build a much larger surgery from which a wider range of services could be provided for our patients. Funding will be key, but the NHS is looking to support some Pilot Projects and we are hoping to become one of these community care hubs.

Obviously if we do not get support for this much more ambitious development, we will continue to request funding to replace our current surgery.

At the same time, as an interim measure, plans are being drawn up to subdivide the large clinical space at the front of our building to provide two additional clinical rooms.

We continue to invest in training. Casey, our Nursing Associate, has just completed some additional training, Lilly one of our GP Assistants, has started on a course to develop both her management and clinical skills and Bobby, our Pharmacist is continuing his course to advance his clinical skills. Finally, Dr Katie Herman will shortly finish her training to become a GP trainer.

Sadly, Dr Niall Bacon, who joined us last March, has decided to retire from the NHS and will be leaving us on 7th of May. We would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him well in his retirement.

We have started a recruitment process and have already had several applicants. We want to find the correct doctor for our practice and this is likely to require the use of locum doctors for a short period.

We all remain committed to the long term future and growth of the practice.

Dr Katie and Dr Chris Herman
